So... I'm doing my first ever sprint triathlon a week from today. (The Baierl YMCA sprint triathlon in Pittsburgh, in case there's anyone local here - 700 meter swim, 12 mile bike, 5K run.) And there's something that's causing me a decent amount of anxiety ( Read more... )

DD here. I wear a sportsbra under whatever I am wearing for the swim. It used to be I wore one under my speedo bathing suit. This year, I sprung for a tri top and I wear it under that. Make sure it's a synthetic - no cotton - bra, and you should be fine. I recently bought (and wore in yesterday's tri) the Moving Comfort Maia bra, and it worked great.

I used a quick-drying sports bra under a wetsuit for my first triathlon. It _is_ quite uncomfortable, but whacchagonna do.

Best of luck in the race, enjoy!!!

maybe have a pit crew waiting with sheets/towels so they can form a dressing room around you?

Lots of times transition zones are for athletes only...I know that if I had my bike racked near a Pit crew, I'd probably explode! haha.

I've seen lots of people wearing sports bras over their suits AND under...they don't seem to retain much water (I'm small so its never been much of an issue). I have jumped in a pool with a sports bra on after running and even though its 100% cotton..just like it that way!...it didn't absorb enough water to be annoying while swimming.

If you are super concerned about looking silly while running/biking, you could swim in a workout bikini so your sports bra would cover it up all the way. Workout bikinis are much more comfortable to run in anyway because your stomach is exposed so it feels more like running in normal running stuff.
