Another successful ride...

Tuesday night's ride was bad to say the least.  Trigger was resistant he didn't want to work and he definitely didn't want to canter.  I worked with him on his right lead canter departure which currently involves a nasty looking head toss as he takes the lead.  He had been doing this to left as well, but I worked with him and got him to tip his ( Read more... )

Yess.. maybe he is getting it! ottb4me July 17 2009, 16:49:48 UTC
LOL I have to laugh that maybe just maybe Trigger is getting the clue that its better to work with no fight than it is to fight, but then again, we know he likes pain and I think he takes a pleasure in the fighting, but thats just my opinion. Yes, he was great to say the least. He thought tonight that riding was not as bad as it could be for sure. He was forward and willing while we both rode him. I was impressed! and I can see the benefit of riding more than one horse at times. You get the different feel and the different things you have to work on on different mounts, helps you become a better rider I believe.

Yep. I never turn down the opportunity to try out someone else's pony. Though it does make me nervous riding in front of the owner, cause they may do something different than me. Didn't have that problem with Shades, I know how Sara rides! Lol.

Added you! This entry is really old and I don't think the interview mentioned it but I have a friesian cross (Nevy), she's a friesian x national show horse and I also own her dad now who is a friesian. :)

So does that qualify her as a Georgian Grand or does the Arab in there nix that?

I look forward to hearing about them!

No, the arabian nixes the Georgian Grande and so does her mother's registration. Unfortunately, even though I know who her granddam is, her mother was registered as half-arabian instead of National Show Horse as she should have been. When they registered her half-arabian, they did not include verification of parentage or her granddam's registration number. Which sucks. Nevy is registered with Friesian Sporthorse Association (with just a certificate of pedigree because the unverified granddam keeps her out of the main stud book as well) and Friesian Heritage Horse which gave her full papers. The lack of good paperwork for Nevy's mom has really been troublesome and frustrating and according to the American Saddlebred, her granddam has passed on and there is no DNA recorded for her.
