You're on the Barge. If you don't know where you are or why you're here, you probably died, which means you're most likely an inmate. Et cetera. There's wizards, vampires, aliens, and all those fun, crazy things. This is a prison, you have to be redeemed.. et cetera, et cetera. Beware of floods and ports.

I think that's about it.

You sound like you've managed to adjust without becoming depressed by the place that's been called hell, purgatory, and a prison.

It has its ups and its downs. I mean, it's mostly downs, but you get by.

How do you get by?

I created a tangent universe, but then the world was going to end so I had to close it. I don't think that really helps since I died and now I'm here, wherever here is. I think it's a parallel universe.

Donnie Darko.

[Well, that's different.]

... Interesting.

Your world sounds as strange as mine, Donnie. You died to save it?

It was actually pretty normal. I mean, I guess if you were me or Frank, it kind of stood out as being different because of the time travel and the portals. Grandma Death saw them too, so I know it wasn't only the two of us. I don't think anyone else saw them, though.

I don't really think of it that way, but I guess you could say that. Frank said the world would end if I didn't fix it so I had to fix it.

Some probably would have let it end.

Time travel and portals? I have a cursory knowledge of theoretical physics. [Lies, but he's not going to brag to a teenager.] I actually worked with a man who could see the past, present, and future simultaneously, though he was helpless to change anything.

Thank you.

Are you here as an inmate or warden?

An inmate. I'm Ana Lewis.

Nice meeting you, Ana.

I'm an inmate as well, but I'm still getting used to the label. How have you adjusted to being here?

[1986? THAT'S ALMOST LIKE HIS TIME!]

How do you do, Adrian? I'm the Doctor- I couldn't exactly pinpoint a 'when' to be from, but my most recent visit to Earth was in the vicinity of their- perhaps your- 1984, to visit a friend of mine. Rather close to you, actually; I believe we were in San Francisco at the time. [Because the same continent is 'close.']

What sort of experiences do you wish to hear about?

I'm doing well, all things considered. Did you enjoy San Francisco? It's one of those cities I wish I'd been able to spend more time in.

Anything at all, really. I want to learn what I can about where I am. Maybe an example of what happens during a flood or a port?

It was quite busy, but there are a great many interesting things to be found there. Peri is quite the competent tour guide.

Well, currently, nothing is amiss, but I can recount some of those I've experienced. It's often very strange, and occasionally nerve-wracking. I believe several people were suddenly and unaccountably intoxicated for a day or so, most recently, although I was maintaining the TARDIS for the majority of that. There've been times where some of us were reverted to children, or became the opposite gender (in Earth terms, of course). There was a city that seemed to effect nearly everyone involved with varying levels of aphrodisiacs and emotion-altering drugs. There's... hmm. There often seems to be a problem with memory lapse.

Some of us are quite adept at making terrible decisions, come such strange situations.

It sounds like a series of unfunny, unimaginative practical jokes, and I've never been very patient when it comes to bad senses of humor. [Ahem, Comedian.]

Most of us are not above making terrible decisions when in our right mind.

Aside from dealing with embarrassing flood repercussions, or murder in the case of some inmates, how do most people spend their time here? I don't think I've actually had free time since I was in my early 20s, so it's a little strange for me right now.
