Martha had spent a little bit of time going over her new inmate's file before she had gone to meet with him. It was just cursory to know what she would be dealing with before she stepped into the situation, and what she had seen surprised the hell out her, considering Adrian had seemed to be so mild-mannered. Still, she would need to hear his opinion on things before she went into further detail on him; she thought that was important. So with a soft knock, Martha found herself standing before his doorway, sliding her fingers into her pockets and waiting to see what the Admiral had given her this time.

[Adrian opened the door for his expected guest, giving her a polite smile and wordlessly inviting her inside his room, which was all cold marble and minimalism. This would be treated like a business meeting, or a meeting with any paid employee. Martha would get the appropriate etiquette.]

You've read my file. [Statement, not a question. Any intelligent warden would at least browse their inmate's file before meeting them in person. Ideally, this won't be discussed often, and he'd rather just make his case regarding the matter now, so they can both be clear on where the other stands.]

Anyone who enjoyed that is obviously mentally disturbed.

Some enjoy drugs, some enjoy dressing up in costume, others enjoy spontaneously turning into animals. I try not to judge.

Where I come from, dressing up in costumes is a rather popular past time. One that should be judged quite harshly, considering by what some individuals feel is appropriate to do while in costume.

You mean costumed heroes and villains? My world had them as well, before the government finally outlawed "masked adventuring." I think it's fair to analyze the role such characters play in society, but I wouldn't go so far as to label them all mentally disturbed, although without a doubt, some of them were.

It was better than fucking zombies, but I still prefer my own goddamn body.

Agreed. Were you at least able to keep your mind and personality intact?

Yeah, for the most part. I started getting some "natural instincts" or something, but I was still myself. What about you?

I was a large carnivorous cat, but still a vegetarian. I spent most of the time in my room, reading a book. It was entirely as dull as it sounds.

You really lucked out with zombies and a zoo all within your first few weeks, plus the brand new warden. How are you feeling?

Zombies weren't mentioned as part of the fun, crazy things the barge has to offer, so I was surprised. The zoo was ridiculous, and the new warden I haven't met yet.

[ ... ]

I'm faring well, though, thank you.

What about you? No post traumatic stress disorder or any trouble during the flood? Aside from being in the flood in the first place.

The flood was pleasantly traumaticless. I think the Admiral might just be giving us a calm before the storm so we don't feel like, completely horrible when he totally messes with our heads, but maybe I'm wrong. It was pretty cool being some kind of sleek, jungle cat.

The port was.. less fun, obviously. [A pause.]

Did you find someone worth liking and talking to yet?

It seemed to help with the way a lot of people were feeling after the port... and I was a cat too, a mountain cat.

I've been keeping to myself, actually. I'm usually not antisocial, but it's been nice having time for idleness.

I prefer the form I have presently to the one I had before. Yourself?

From simple things like having a nice clean suit to having the ability to express one's self as one pleases, whether it be through art, music, speech, writing, or fulfilling a vision. I think we can both appreciate having those things.
