I just can't believe there's anyone named Spunky-Funk. I wonder what his real name is, or if his parents were really so cruel as to give him such a special saucy name.

Spunky-Funk Johnson played the role of Mr. Major in Putney Swope, the 1969 classic soul jam. It is his (?) only film credit. The role of Putney Swope was played by Arnold Johnson (kin?), making his film debut. You may remember Arnold Johnson from such films as Shaft, A Hero Ain't Nuthin' But a Sandwich, Chu Chu and the Philly Flash (Danny Glover's second film), and The Five Heartbeats.
