4 Rune Bearers come into the town, collapse, wounds too severe to be patched up, Geddoe, the bearer of the True Lightning rune tries to say something, but, drops to his knees and dies in one of the PC's arms(Xander, the Half Elf) The rune lifts and jumps to him, the shock knocking him unconscious, 3 other villagers run over, to investigate the people and see if their friend, Xander, is ok(and only one knows him as a half elf, the full elf, Rhoadin, who has kept Xanders secret) After checking their wounds and being unable to do anything for them, Millia passes, and her True Dragon moves to Azure, rendering her unconscious, Sierra, for some unknown reason, having taken the Blue Moon Rune from the forest, dies from wounds from a sword(only one can even hurt a vampire, at least, mortally) and the Blue Moon Rune, seeks the Elf, Rhoadin. An older, wild haired man, also lays dead amongst the adventurers, from his forehead, comes the 3 headed wolf, attaching itself to the nearby Oniryu, rendering him at least, unconscious as well.
They awaken in the inn, the Elder, and Runemaster there with them, telling them he doesn't know most of their odd runes, just that he recognizes Xanders, as a lightning rune, but, it looks much more ornate then the ones he has for sale. Taking it upon himself, Tobias, the Runemaster teaches Xander the incredable offsenive abilties of his True Lightning Rune, after nearly killing the runemaster(by accident) he lets the other three to talk with Xander, who then casts again, expending his energy, who soon goes back to his own home to rest.
As the other three discuss what to do(the idea of going north, to Harmonia, to see if a Runemaster in another town might know more about their runes, Leknaat appears before them, beseeching them, they must travel to Harmonia to the north, it is imperative, soon after, before they can get a word in, she disappears. The group, disheveled by the sudden appearance, is then shocked again, to see a woman, looking almost exactly like her, telling them that they aren't safe, Leknaat is out to steal their runes, that they need to head south, to Gregminster, where she can protect them. Telling them, that once there was a great liberation war fought there, and that she can keep Leknaat away from them.
After much deliberation, the group decides north is the way to go, they travel onward, battling fierce beasts, such as Fluffballs(lol, Azure even tried to heal one, and was promptly attacked for her trouble, by the very Fluffball that she healed) a short stop in Two Rivers, the come to find out, a man had come through, looking for help with something. As well as a clue, seeking information about this 'Leknaat' to the north, in Harmonia, they beseech the Elder, who tells them, a young kobold man, named Gregory had met the 'Oracle' of harmonia, when he'd had a crisis of life. They find this young kobold, learn that the Oracle of Harmonia, is a woman in black robes, they ask Gregory to come with them, but having no other home, and not wanting to live on the road, he declines.
A bit of information gathering, the gaining of a few runes along the way(Xander-A rare Star Rune, OniRyu - a basic fire run, Azure - a basic water rune, and Rhoadin - a basic earth rune, given to them by Tobias, all except the star, which was found amongst a ancient battleground) set out for L' Renouille Castle to the north. Finding a few oddjobs, and even one that paid 4000 Potch, for a simple escort mission, upon which, they soon departed, though, their runes were giving them...odd characteristics...
Xander, for the most part was unchanged, however, Rhoadin, was exhibiting more...nocturnal mannerisms, staying up all night, feeling energized by the moons light, and being uncomfortable, downright pained, by the sunlight now. Azure, starting to learn how to control her own, was able to summon a small, serpentine dragon, that imparted protection upon her, and Oniryu's hair always wild and uncombed, his eyes, narrower, turning a semi-yellow, almost golden hue as time went on...
Leading this new employer, one Landon Silverburg, to a recently discovered set of ruins just a day and a halfs journey southwest of Two Rivers, eventually finding this ruin the party is disheveled, With Rhoadin and Oniryu left with Landon, and Azure with her close companion Xander having fallen into a pit where the earth was weakened, following their fall, the roof of the building they were exploring fell over the hole, leaving them trapped in darkness...
Using Xanders lightning to find their way(and many a scorch mark along the wall, or ground), they come to a large circular room, with a large hole in the top, where sunlight shines down through, they hear a sinister giggle, and the door way they just left is locked behind them, and the key hidden, soon after, a rune, encased in crystal, rolls from one side of the room(opposite themselves) and spins around in the sunlight part of the room, the others, above ground, seek entrance into the ruins and begin a harrowing search for their companions, after some exploration, they come to a door, and find that Xander and Azure are locked on teh other side, attacks, both physical and runic have no effect, eventually, the sinister giggles are found to belong to a small elven girl, with long blue hair, after several attempts to talk with her, they discover that she is mute and unable to speak, Rhoadin, being a tinkerer(and thusly, outcast from his elven tree home, for his blasphemous ways) gives the young girl parchment, she recognizes the elf, and tells of the trees destruction, her parents death, at the hands of beasts in these ruins, she'd used the rune that she was playing with(and wanted to play catch with Azure, using the rune), to seal the ruins shut, and the monster deeper inside, Landon, recognizing the rune, takes it, and dashes upstairs, to stand over the room they had met the young elven girl, known as Camille.
Using the rune, he activates the ruins, energies long archaic coming to life and the companions are whisked away, light enveloping their vision...
They regain their senses, to find themselves above the clouds, atop a floating island, just above the ruins they were just in, they could see Two Rivers, Warmhaven(their home down) and even the elven tree....though, it was as Camille had said, it was torched, black as the night sky, and, much to their dismay, Warmhaven was in the same affair(Oniryu, for some unknown reason, his sight had become sharper, clearer, he could see miles away, easily able to look over their home town, from the floating island) After much cheering and celebration, from Landon, he explains what they'd found, an ancient school of Runic learning, a Rune school, from the sindarian times, he immediately dashs off, hoping to find a library, after telling the group how to leave and return of their own will, he goes on about his business, the group, worried for the small kobold city of Two Rivers, depart and go there, warning the residents, even recruiting a few, to repair the new Rune School, taking all the occupants from Two Rivers, they head for the ruins, and send them up, to safety, once above the clouds again, Landon tells them of a way to lock the teleporter, so that none can come up, without their allowing it, giving them a modicum of safety, as they look on from above, and watch a single man, wielding a sword(that Oniryu notices the strange man talking to) Easily dispatching a group of wyverns all on his own, Oniryu has an idea, taking the rune that Camille had used to seal the ruins below, he and Xander unleash the beast, and flee back to the rune school soon after.
The beast, now free, left the ruins, a 3 headed, gold dragon, sensing nearby prey(and having been locked away for several days, was rather hungry) attacked the man, who subsequntly defeated it, easily, the beast, falling and shifting into a man, with a sword, the slayer took his prize, and departed northward, before he reached Muse(I could swear that L'Renoille castle is in Muse, correct me if I am wrong) A woman, garbed in black robes appeared before him and he knelt before her, offering her the sword, before she accepts it and disappears, just as suddenly.
