Wish I knew. I've just used it in a fic. Whoops. I assumed it was her name. But I've seen other names too like you. Hmm. Some pieces of fanon make sense and Victoria seemed to suit her. Kinda posh, and regal. Sorry, I really don't know.
I agree that Victoria suits her, but I don't know if that's because I'm just used to it, or -- you know? But see below, it's -- well, if not show canon, it's the next best thing. :)
I am also thrown when a name other than Victoria is used in a fic. When I save them to my own stash of fics, I may or may not change the name to Victoria...
Ah, good ol' Lorne. I had a bunch of fics written with a different first name for him before they created a canon first name and it was sooo annoying and such a temptation to go back and retro-fix and I was stuck wondering whether I should or not.
That's like in Teen Wolf - 'John' is fast becoming the fanon first name for Sheriff Stilinski and there are already probably hundreds of fics using it - to the point where I get thrown if someone uses a different first name for him, even though it's only fanon. There might be a lot of retro-fixits of they ever confirm a canon name for him.
I was burned by Lorne and am not using a first name for him in any fic - but that also starts getting tedious after a while.
Aaaaaggh, it must be so annoying not to have a first name for Sheriff Stilinski; even if he's not a main character, he's certainly fathered one. Even straight-up cop!kink fics can't use his title constantly.
Usually I check the date of when a fic was posted and if it's pre-Evan, for example, I sort of brush aside the fic-name as I'm reading, if that makes sense? But the urge to go back and change it would be huuuge for me, too, though I guess you sort of work with what you have at the time. Still.
Like there aren't enough Johns running amok already. Not even a first initial? Callen got at least that much...
Not even a first initial! Most of my stories end up being Stiles POV and I use 'the Sheriff' a lot because that's what people call him - but seriously - he's good friends with a nurse and *she* calls him Sheriff? At some point, if you're buddies with someone, you're going to say - 'call me blah-blah'. The writer has these weird affectations like that. But he also in an interview was saying that the Sheriff's name *wasn't* John - like, if you find that objectionable - give us a name to work with!
Not exactly the same - but speaking of retro-fixing and whether I can be bothered - when I first started writing in Stargate - I was always spelling Goa'uld "gould" - hee!
Oh... it's not canon? I could've sworn it was, though I couldn't tell you when it was mentioned. And I just commented on someone's fic telling them they used the wrong name - oops. Well, don't I look like a jackass now.
You are no jackass; apparently it *is* canon! Just not show canon, exactly. But the closest thing to show-canon via Augustus Hill's 'journal.' Good enough for me! My curiosity is assauged, I feel so much better now. (It had to have come from somewhere!!1!)

YASSSSSSSSSSSSS
I KNEW it had to have come from *someplace*! I had just figured someone started using it randomly and it caught on, but you know me and knowing shit. (Found a "trillingfin knows stuff!" icon by badtyler the other day.)
I still contend that they never mentioned her name in show-canon because they goddamn well didn't, but this is the closest best thing to canon, and you are OZSOME. Proof~!!11!!!

Awesome!
Do they also give a name to Grandma Beecher, while we're at it? I've seen her called 'Liliane' in fics, which I really liked. But no idea if it was random since she's a even rarer character. But in the fic where she was called Liliane, Victoria was called Victoria so the writer may have taken both from the same source.

They do! It's "Cordelia," which I somehow retained in memories even though on cast lists she's usually just referred to as Grandmother Beecher. So again this could be a post-2003 she shall be Cordelia, but before 2003 who the hell knows type of situation.
GRUMP. I know that Angus had a sliiightly more prominent role in the cast than Victoria or Cordelia, and Harrison, of course, but, it's always irked me that the Beecher doods all got names and the Beecher ladies do (did) not.
