The Difference Engine:  This book, written by the Cyberpunk Progenitors William Gibson and Bruce Stirling, is the formative work in Steampunk fiction.  It's also boring as Hell on casual fridays.  Don't get me wrong, the imagery and setting are beautiful, and I can see why the work has spawned so many derivative works (Steamboy, Iron Kingdoms, Last ( Read more... )

I was going to ask if you're reading the original Jumper, or Jumper: Griffin's Story but I find that the later is not out yet. Jumper is my favorite book of all time, and I just want to cry with what they're doing for Jumper the movie (and the video game!??!?!). They kept the 'idea' of a jumper, and threw the rest of it away.

You might also pick up Reflex, Jumper's sequel. It's quite as good as the original, but certainly pretty awesome.

I'm certainly loving it. Hillary is currently reading Reflex, so it'll make its way to me soon. As for the movie, I'm willing to accept it as a different and unique story. Besides, if it weren't for the movie preview, I'd never have heard of the book.
