Tutorial 1: Clover

Still don't have quite enough for a full iconpost (and my claim hasn't been approved yet at 10variations) , so I will instead make a tutorial. I've never done one before, so let's see how this goes.

-->

I use PSP 7 but this is easily translatable.

1. First of all, make and crop your base to your liking. My image happened to be this size to begin with, but you might want to color yours before resizing. Either way will work fine. ^^

Here's mine:

2. Duplicate the base and make the Background invisible. Set the duplicated image to "Multiply."

3. Now, under the Multiply layer, start coloring your image using the Paintbrush tool. I always make each color a different Normal layer to make it easier to mess around with the transparency. I used #C03129 at 79 for her lips, #F2DCCE at 65 for her skin, #4D2363 at 46 for her dress/glove, and #D6BC0C at 100 for the microphone.

Here's mine:

4. I don't really like that white thing in the corner, so I eye-dropped the color of the black background (#323232) and colored over it in a Normal layer just above the Multiply layer.

Now it looks like this:

5. Now, to give it some color. I used a texture by immoral set to Soft Light 100 to give it a reddish hint.

-->

6. Next, I used a texture by lil_brokenangel set to Soft Light 100 to give it more of a brown feel.

-->

7. And yet another texture (this time made by cdg) set to Soft Light 100.

-->

8. I used Google Image search to find a random line of music and pasted it as a separate image. I eye-dropped a dark color from the icon and put a new layer on the music line set to Screen and filled with #631C11. I then resized the music and angled it (I think it was at about 30 degrees) before pasting it as a new layer on the icon. I set this layer to Multiply 92.

-->

9. Now for the finishing touches. I gave it a basic 3pt white border set to antialias and then duplicated it. Then I used the standard-issue Dots brush (#74342A) on top of that. And you're done!

(10. Optionally, you can make the Background visible again and it will darken your image. I preferred it without, but you might like yours darker. ^^

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask away. And if you make anything, I'd love to see it. :D
