The bell was about to ring for third hour. I was filling in for a Spanish teacher, ready to start class, when a student asked to use the washroom. My husband's got a bunch of grad students and postdocs, and one or two of them at any given time are Muslim. We both respect the commitment of observing Ramadan.

I'm glad there are professors like you and your husband who are cognizant of the needs of Muslims during Ramadan. Kindness spreads. :) On a side note, a list-serve post mentioned that you're speaking at NIU in March at the Children's Lit conference! Hope to see you then!

Yeah, I'm planning on going. Was gonna check to see if I could volunteer or something--seeing that's my school and all. Can't wait!
