Feeling really bummed out because my French sucks, and, well, it takes a long time to improve. And certain people can be really not cool about sucky French. And it makes it hard to want to improve when there's such a negativity surrounding people whose French could use improvement ( Read more... )

I know what you mean. It's not you, it's them. Unfortunately, you'll meet as many French people that'll scoff at your bad French attempts as part of the collective Queber populous, but you can also meet as many people happy that you're trying to learn their language. Unfortunately, you haven't met many of those people... I'm still waiting to hit 50/50 I think... I think you can guess which way the balance tips. Though I find, if I'm really not sure what to say in French or don't have the energy, I'll at least start with "Parlez-vous Anglais?", that usually puts them in a better mood. Just keep at it!

Hein, tu sais que la phrase <> est comprise par presque tout le monde? C'est juste une suggestion.
À mon avis, le problème (avec ceux qui réagissent de façon bizarre aux anglophones qui tentent de parler français,) est qu'ils ont un complexe d'infériorité. C'est assez simple. Quéstions? Commentaires?

Seriously, "go fuck yourself," is a pretty international phrase. I give it two thumbs up.
