Catching up with the journal a bit. Hoping to catch up on some other stuff, if libertyrose would cut me some slack with her deadlines and committments. (Currently it's judging a RWA writing contest. One more entry to do. Yay!)

Terminator (the first one!) is on the TV as I'm typing this. I had forgotten how much I love this movie. I love the second one, too ( Read more... )

Oooh, Michael Biehn--the best (and sometimes the only) reason to see a whole lot of otherwise unremarkable movies. Not that "The Terminator" is unremarkable--it seems like every time MB teams up with James Cameron they produce something pretty damned good.

By the way, the Official Michael Biehn Fan Club is having a gathering/dinner at a restaurant not far from here in March, and the man himself is scheduled to be there! And guess who is going? Heheheh...gonna get me an autograph, I am. I'd love to find a still of that scene from "Aliens" where Hicks is showing Ripley how to use the weapon for him to sign. Love that scene.

I'm with you on "Aliens," it's probably in my top 10 all time favorites. I generally like James Cameron's work. He puts the whole budget up there on the screen for the audience to have a good wallow in it, no pretensions, just a really good time.

Ooo! Meeting Mr. Biehn! So cool! That will be awsome! (And yes, I've suffered through so drek to watch him... what was that SciFi channel movie.. Deep Reds? Biehn got to be king of the B SciFi movies for awhile. Him and Sam, who's awful movies were much bigger budget. Event Horizon anyone? :P

Though... trivia question... Event Horizon also had Jason Isaacs in it. So I've seen it more than I should really admit to. Which is anything more than once, actually.

Aliens and the Abyss are my two favorite Cameron movies. I loathed 95% of Titanic, which the notable exception of the 20 minutes when Jack and Rose are absent from the screen while the boat sinks. The clothes were gorgeous, though.

Thinking about Michael Biehn had me recalling "Deep Red" the other night, and I looked it up on Amazon.com. It was available through third parties for almost less than it took to ship it (on tape, not on DVD) so I sent for it, because I recall MB was good in it even if the story itself was...well, improvable. As it "it could have been better." I watched it again when the tape showed up the other day, and found my first impression was the same again. But he looked VERY good in that movie, too ( ... )
