Congrats, luv

But - let me tell you this - you are crazy. Why give birth at home? Never heard about complications at birth? Why did you want to risk it?

I planned a home birth. So did lots of women I know, not lightly and with careful consideration of the risks. Hospitals are also risky places to give birth.

Try reading some of the answers here: http://www.homebirth.org.uk/whatif.htm

I'm one of the people for whom "things went wrong" - and it was fine because most things that go wrong, go wrong slowly, and if they go wrong fast, you are not much better off in hospital. I got to have the majority of my labour in a familiar and welcoming place, and transferred to hospital when it became clear I could not deliver safely.

Yes, I had initial reaction too when I heard about it first time - why go back to Dark Ages? But you can be always surprised.

wow, that's awesome! So you didn't even use the birthing pool?

What a wonderful birth. Congratulations!

Thank you, I am really surprised too how fast it went.

It'd take over 1 hr to set up the birthing pool that we had - to inflate it, set up pipes and fill it with water - which only midwives knew how to. And I wasn't in mood for water either.

Thanks. I'm also kinda hoping for everyone's sake that I'm not just a freak of nature with very efficient uterus...I am not sure how common it is, maybe we hear so much more of challenging stories...

Wow, that is very fast. I am glad it went so well for you and is interesting to read your perception of events.

I hope you're all doing well and you're getting as much sleep as you can.
