Homophone abuse is what I'd call it. It's not a failure of grammar so much as it's a failure of correct usage.

What the heck is "costumize?" Dressing up in costumes? Or a really bad way of trying to spell customize?

I'd find "costumize" funny if it was a neologism. Alas, I see it rather too often as a misspelling of "customize".

Seeing this sort of error distracts me from what the writer means to say -- their words go *clang* at that point. Like clanging a gong.
