Some things just make you feel old . . .

Most of you know I work in local government. Our elections were held yesterday, and the winner of the race for Mayor is a man who has not been alive as long as I have worked for our town.

But is he competent? Is he nice? Is he an ass?

Those could be some important questions with the nature of your job.

ETA: I am in classes with people that I could have literally taught. I see former students in the Computer lab at least once a week...I know a little of feeling old.

He is a very nice guy actually, and strikes me as someone who will be competent ... although you really never know about that until you see someone in action. I think (hope) he'll do a good job.

His wife and my daughter were in dance classes together all through elementary school and high school, so I've known him quite a few years in a totally non-professional capacity.

Your impression? He's actually 29, I believe ... and tomorrow is my 30th anniversary here at work. *head desk*

That feels a bit weird? I saw an election somewhere and they elected a 19 y.o. Mayor!

I'll get back to you on the weird by mid-December after I've actually worked with him some. At least he has 10 years on the one you saw!
