Maybe something will change for the better before the show (or Dan's time in it) ends and you'll get to go after all. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! (Check your email, too).

I hope you have a great time! I want to take Boy2 to see the play, and we're starting to think seriously about it (he's involved in theater at school).

That would be a fantastic thing to do if he's in theatre at school! Any plan on when you might try to go?

erm... hi?

I don't know you but I'm planning on trying to attend a showing of HTSIBWRT and i saw your journal with a mention and... can i ask for help?

I planning to try going in any of these three dates- the week of February 26, the week of march 28, or may.

seeing the play is the key object, but... i did heard from some sources who seen Dan's other broadway endevor that... he sometimes greets people after the show? yes/no?

if yes, does it have to be a special performance (like the "preview performances" in February- early march)

or he does that for most performances?

if you could answer that to the best of your knowledge i would appreciate it.

thank you

Hi! Nice to "meet" you!

I saw Equus in London and in New York several times, and Dan pretty much ALWAYS came out to sign autographs after the show. Obviously I don't know that he will for this show, but I will be really stunned if he doesn't ( ... )

well that was Highly informative and already got rid of misconceptions that would have ruined me seeing the show without knowing before hand.
*to clue you in what i'm talking about i went to the last premiere in NYC. the "security" acted in the same way you describe here, actually worse, I have bruises from the mob of people, and they werent helpful at all. so now i can be think realisticly in not hoping they are going to be better. or actually Care about the fans waiting at the door.

I have one more question, to kind of settle wether to get my hopes up or not,
i heard somewhere that Dan, on occasion, also takes pictures with fans? or is this rare-like dodo bird-rare?

thanks loads for the help. It will help me plan the trip so much easier.
(although- how do i know when buying tickets at the official website- which ones are matinee?)

to clarify. I'm not mad at the security for doing their job of protecting the actor. I have seen in the non-hp big fandom (if you know which i mean) How absolutely insane people can get to see the actor/actress and that it can get dangerous.

what i meant by security being unhelpful is that while the actor's safety is their top priority, they should organize the fans so they are not shoved back and forth behind these "barrier" like mere Cattle and make sure no one gets injured.
*like i did because the mob of people moved backward at the orders of the security that we "were too close to the barrier" but there wasnt enough space between the sidewalk and the barrier to move anyway back.
hence bruises by being elbowed, stepped on and so forth by the mass of people being forced backwards.

anyway, I been forwarned so i will do everything in my power not be in the same situation

at least i get to see the show.

When you say you went to the last premiere, do you mean an HP film premiere, or do you mean something stage-related? I'm really sorry to hear you got bruised and banged, but I can easily see how it could happen. I got pushed into a barrier pretty hard in London. (And yeah, I think I can figure out which other fandom you were referring to, and it's probably even worse, although I've never been to anything connected with that series myself ( ... )

yes, when i meant premiere i meant movie premiere. that's the only kind of "premiere" i know.

and ah, that explains it. sad, but well better to know now and not to get dissapointed later.

as for security, don't worry, I might sound mad at them but i'm not so witless and stupid as to actually mouth them. that never gets anyone anywhere. (unless i get something worse than bruises, but i would like to think they're not that negiligent, and if i do get anything more than bruises i'm sure everyone around me would notice)

anyway, thank you so much for all the info, and hopefully it will all work out nicely and i get to enjoy the show at least.

one last thing, how long does one show run? (like, how long was equus on broadway for example? 6 months? a year?)

anyway, i appreciate all the help. so thank you

I figure most people know that mouthing off at the security people can only lead to disappointment, but as this was an entirely public post and anyone could be reading it, I figured I would be remiss not to mention that.

Including the preview shows, Equus ran in London from February 16 - June 9, 2007, and on Broadway, Equus it ran from September 5, 2008 - February 8, 2009. As of now, the last performance for How to Succeed is scheduled for November 9th of this year (with the first preview on February 26th), but musicals are often considered open-ended, so if the show is doing well, it's quite possible it would run longer than that (even if Dan chose to leave after his initial commitment). And of course, if a show doesn't do well, they could always pull the plug early. Although some shows are planned to run for a specific period of time (6 months, for example), many just keep going as long as the reviews and attendance are good. Phantom of the Opera has been running in NY since January 1988!

You asked about preview shows versus those after the official opening. Previews generally begin 2-4 weeks before an official opening. If you see a preview, it is essentially the same performance as you'd see after the official opening, but it's the chance for the actors and directors to fine-tune things before professional critics come in and start writing reviews about the production. Something may have worked well in rehearsals that they find does not work as well with a full audience, so they may make slight changes in how a particular scene is done. For the most part, previews will follow the same schedule as shows do after the official opening...so there will be many performances done each week until the official opening ( ... )

I'm having a bit of a panic planning the ticket buying starnightmuse February 16 2011, 04:29:54 UTC
I did a bit of search in telecharge for 2 tickets in orchesta isle.
the single tickets are $132. it should be $ 264-300. instead it's $560.
it doesn't make sense and I really can't pay 500, that out of my money possibilities.

so do you know any other place where I can buy good, reliable (by reliable i mean i will get my tickets)?

broadway.com also sells them, albeit a bit more expensive.

help?
