SEEKING FANFIC FOR KINDLE APP

Oct 23, 2011 15:11

A few weeks ago, one of my favorite fanfic writers - jordangrant - posted links in her journal to versions of her Cambiare novels that were formatted to work on Kindle. After a bit of Google research to figure out how to get the files onto my cell phone (Samsung Mermerize), I am now happily able to read them on my phone ( Read more... )

I've got a whole boatload of .mobi files of fanfic (various pairings--mostly HP/DM and HP/SS but others as well). If you have gmail and pm me your address, I can add you to the list of people who can download the zip file....

(p.s. I have a semi-weird tagging/titling system that makes sense to me but might not to other people. I highly recommend downloading Calibre and loading into that and you can see what I've done and make changes if you like).

Anything hosted on Archive of our Own has an option to download as a mobi file. And if the fic you want on your kindle isn't available in a format that you can use directly, then you can in theory paste it into a word document, and then email it to your kindle.

You email to your Kindle? Will a Kindle read a Word doc?

Your kindle should have an email address that you can find in your Amazon account/manage my Kindle. You can then send an email with the doc file attached with CONVERT in the subject line. You can't send docx files at this time. Then the next time you connect the wireless on the Kindle, it will download the files for you. It's really easy and simple way to get fanfic on your Kindle

I can send you my fics, finished and otherwise, in .mobi format.

Lots by other authors, too. E-mail me, and I'll let you know.

"Calibre" ( http://calibre-ebook.com/ ) is a great e-book management program and will convert any format to any other format.

I use the program Calibre to format my files to mobi to read on my kindle. It's free to download and it's pretty easy to use, just import what you want converted, click the convert button, tell it what format to convert to and done. You might even be able to tell the program to send the files to your phone if it's conected to your computer.
