That was a good article.At some point we are going to have to make important decisions about social programs, taxes & foreign policy in regards to debt.
I don't think there *is* a right path. I've come to the realization that even the brightest mines we've got leading this nation are really just pulling it out of their asses as they go.
Wouldn't it be interesting if ultimately the most functional, responsive form of government is some smooth blend of democracy and socialism, somewhere midway between the United States and China? We both end up with darn near similar forms of government, just coming from the opposite direction?
Imagine a far off future: The US has pretty well socialized healthcare, banking, education, many heavy industries, the military still has their black-hole budget, the economy never really springs back to world-leader status, the American public has forgotten the past, Jenna Bush is president, and some terrorists just bombed US territory...
