*feels Trip slip away to take off his shoes, make himself comfortable*

*moves further into the room, taking in the details*

*sees something*

*raises eyebrow*

*continues to undress, pulling sweats and a t-shirt out of his closet*

*looks over his shoulder and smiles*

Yeah, my great great great grandfather was a diver in the Gulf of Mexico back in the day. That was his helmet. He was an explorer in his own right.

Actually, there's an underwater trench in the Gulf named after him. Went down there when I was a kid.

*pulls on t-shirt*

*smiles, making no move to hide the fact he's watching him undress*

Wow. I think the most noteworthy thing a Hayes has every done is sing 'We Will Overcome' at People's Park in the 1960's.

*smiles and continues to move around Trip's quarters, taking in the details*

*pauses by the desk to toe off his shoes*

*wiggles the uniform off his hips, kicking it off his ankles*

*yanks on the sweats*

*turns around to find Hayes watching him*

*lets out a bit of a half laugh*

Something interesting about me changing out of uniform?

*shakes head*

Okay...let's start simple

Tell me...what was it like for you when you were a kid? Small town rugrat, big town brat?

Small town. I'm a small town boy, always will be. I grew up knowing everyone in the town.... had a small group of friends, wasn't one of the more popular kids, but I enjoyed the friends I had.

I remember spending summer afternoons at the local pond... every kid in town would be there.

*smiles and sighs*

Those were simpler times. I miss those times.

When I retire, I'm moving to a small town, somewhere on the Gulf. Somewhere where I'd know everyone, and they'd know me. Lazy summer days and warm muggy nights. Waking up to the sun on the water, blue skies for miles. Whole days in the fields around town, nights on the pier watching movies on a strecthed out sheet. Just like old times. I want a life like that again.

*turns to Hayes*

That answer your question?

Answers my question AND makes me want to go drop a line in somewhere.

Your turn.
