Soon, very soon

So now it is eleven days until my wedding, and I am running on a constant background stress level that is made up of about 2/3 wedding and 1/3 things I have to get done at work before the end of the week and then have to hurry to finish up when I get back. These things are student grant applications with hard deadlines, so I'm actually only taking ( Read more... )

Yep, having watched many a relative go into "wedding mode" I have seen too much "hurry up and wait" followed by "OHGODOHGOD MOVEMOVEMOVE!"

Here's hoping that things go smoothly.

That's what it's felt like for the past few months...long stretches of doing nothing while sort of worrying about things in the background, then HOSHIT DEADLINE, then back to waiting again. It's stressful! I just want everything to be done. @_@

Well, at least you're almost through with it; the waiting up until now must have been horrible. Sounds like you're going to have a pretty nice gathering of people too, so I hope you enjoy yourself during the main event.

The waiting and planning and meeting with people are all a huge pain. I hate organizing parties and things like that, and after this I never want to do it again. This had better be a damned good day to make up for all the trouble we've gone through for it!

Yeah, this was not fun. The short story is that in Quebec there is this stupid outdated law that requires that an official posting of when and where the wedding is taking place (signed by the bride and groom, the wedding officiant, and somebody with notary power like a commissioner of oaths) be made 20 days before the wedding as part of legal procedure. The friend of Paul's who was going to be the officiant for our civil ceremony messed up and did not get this done in time, so our civil ceremony would not have been able to be legalized on October 9, and we would have had to "pretend" and then have the "real" wedding where we sign the documents at a later date. I spent hours in tears about this on the phone with several people in the government, including a lawyer in the Department of Justice, but nobody would budge...they basically just said "well, you trusted the wrong friend ( ... )

Wow, congratulations on getting married. I'm really happy for you and hope that everything that's getting rushed around doesn't take over a good event :)
