Tonight I did something that I swore I would never do as someone so heavily involved in animal rescue...I returned Eagle to GW. My precious baby boy just couldn't adjust to being home alone for 8 hours after 8 weeks, culminating in ripping off another basket muzzle, biting the crate until he was bleeding, and eventually getting halfway out and ( Read more... )

*hugs* Thanks, sweetie...Eagle is a wonderful dog, and we worked so hard to get him home to me. It's just that I wasn't the right home. I know he will find the right one, though, no matter how much I wish it wasn't this way.

Oh my God, Jen :(

I don't even know what to say, but I'm so, so sorry. To have to do it once is bad enough, but I can't imagine going through that twice like you have. You are a brave soul, dear.

Thanks, sweetie. I really can't believe this is happening...you know how much I love my animals, and to finally admit that Eagle just wasn't going to be okay with us was so hard. We tried, and tried, 8 long weeks...he was having serious trouble almost from day 1.

He is such a special dog, and is going to make someone so very, very happy. He sure made me happy. :( I feel like I failed him, but I think, in the end, it would have been even worse to keep him.

Thanks again, though, this means a lot.

Aw Jen, I'm so sorry. I know how you love your animals so much and I know it's very hard on you but you show how much you truly do love and support them by letting them go when the time comes. I can't even imagine making that choice even once, let alone twice.

You are a special companion and you *will* find the right dog for your circumstances and lifestyle. I'm sorry Eagle couldn't be it, though.

::hugs::

Thank you, Deb...I do love them to pieces, and having Eagle not work out is just mortifying. At least he has a change to have the proper home for his preferences now.

I sure do appreciate this, and I know you are right...we will find the right dog. Maybe after we foster for a bit, the right foster will come along and will just end up staying.

*hugs*

I'm really sorry! :( It is probably for the best, and I'm sure he'll be happy at his home. Will you be able to go see him occasionally?

Good luck...I'm sure you'll find a great companion that will be able to better-adjust to your lifestyle.

Thank you...yes, I'm sure when he's placed in his new home I can see him now and then. Will probably avoid that for a while, but eventually I will want to see him.

Thanks much, and I too hope we have find the right doggy for us.
