Thanks, everyone, for all your kind words about Eagle. It's been 48 hours now, and I sure do miss him still. He is doing pretty well with Rieko, a little whiney and stressed, but not TOO terrible. He loves having her dogs around, I think ( Read more... )

He's better off. :) And that's a good thing if he is happier.

i cannot imagine giving up my dog, but that kind of separation anxiety isn't healthy. if it's best for the dog, then you did what you had to. maybe you can adopt another one down the road, one that doesn't have such a separation angst

I know you understand, you are so attached to your beautiful girl, it seems to me. It was so horrible...I never imagined having to do it. But after 2 months, he STILL couldn't handle being alone. You should have seen the video of him trying to escape...thank god we had a webcam.

Since I am a volunteer for the group I got him from, his foster mommy tells me how he has been doing, etc. He is 1000xs happier. IT is good and bad becuase of course, I wanted him to be happy with me, but at least he has FOUND happiness. And Rieko can leave him and he doesn't freak out, because he has her two hounds.

Some of these greyhounds just can't make it by themselves. :(

Yes, we will adopt another one, probably foster for a long while first. It woul dbe nice to foster.

Sorry to hear about your dog, Jen. :( Hope you're feeling better soon, and that it's comforting to know that you did what's best for him.

Thank you much...coming up on a week and I still miss him a whole lot. :(

You're right though, it is good that he is doing better where he doesn't have to be alone most of the day.
