Whew!

Dropped Lara off at 5am for her pilot in Boston! Hopefully she'll be able to stay awake as we only got a few hours of sleep last night coming home from Survivor Series! Survivor Series was mostly awesome. Lara and I had great seats, we were the last row to get souvenir chairs to take home, which are taking up residence in our crowded living room. Seeing two world championships change hands in one night was very cool, all the traditional SS matches were fun. The Divas did great too! The big low point was, of course, Jeff Hardy's exclusion from the Smackdown main event. Yeah, what? huh? They spent three weeks building for his appearance there just to throw it all away on randomly adding Edge to the match? Huh? Not to mention that fact that Triple H and Vladimir Kozlov stunk up the place. Seriously, i thought these guys were called "professional" wrestlers; doesn't that mean Kozlov should have, like, talent? I don't know if the true and utter suck of that match translated to TV, but if the huge number of "boring" and "we want Hardy" chants don't tell WWE they dropped the ball, I don't know what will. The Smackdown writers deserve to be lined up and individually slapped by Triple H, if for no other reason than making him embarrass himself by failing to get a halfway decent match out of Kozlov. Not only did they make us endure that fart of a match, but they got people genuinely worried about Jeff Hardy's condition by teasing that his absence was drug-related, as if he overdosed and was critical, when it was all a gag that Edge had attacked him. Of course, no one even knew that was the deal until halfway through the show when Matt Hardy mentioned it. I don't know what they told the folks at home, but no one in the arena knew if Jeff was alive or dead until then. That's pretty disgusting, and like Lara said, it's crying wolf. Next time WWE.com reports a wrestler is hospitalized or dies, true or not, how likely are we to believe it? I know blending reality into storylines is a successful thing, but there are limits. Ah well, at least Edge won and not Kozlov. Though the last thing we need is yet another one of Edge's run-and-hide-for-weeks-and-never-ever-wrestle championship reign. At least the night was saved from disappointment by John Cena's triumphant return and big win over Chris Jericho! Cena's strength is bloody ridiculous, and the fact that he can lift a 240 lb man like he was nothing and slip him into the FU is just crazy. But since he's done that move to the 450 lb Great Khali and the 520 lbs Big Show, I guess nothing should surprise me anymore. I think Cena might train for matches by bench-pressing buildings. By the way, a few bits of confetti were falling from the rafters throughout the night, and Cena looked skyward disappointed when he won and the traditional confetti didn't happen. Ah well, it still a fun night! Even though we were sandwiched between rowdy morons behind us and two dopes with huge heads in front of us, we had two funny guys next to us. During the HBK/JBL teams match, the two monsters Great Khali and Kane were in the ring, and the guy beside us yelled "Hey Miz, get in there!" prompting the Miz to turn around and say to him "No way!" Too funny!

Two of the biggest crowd reactions of the night weren't even for wrestling things. The Smackdown Your Vote video was played; which showed John McCain's promo, for which he got booed as if the video had shown him kicking a puppy, and Barack Obama's promo in which he asks "Do you smell what Barack is cookin'?" This got a cheer as if the guy was handing out hundred dollar bills and a free kitten.
All in all, a good time had :-)

I have today off and will hopefully be able to get the car in to have some work done on it this morning.

On another note, Lara amd I went on a video game shopping spree and have been playing Lord of the Rings: the Third Age, which is a Final Fantasy-esque co-op game. We've also been playing WWE Smakcdown vs. RAW 2009, a franchise that seems determined to cut out the best things about the past versions in favor of flashier, less fun stuff. Oh WWE, does your desire to make us stop caring ever end? Lara has also been replaying the Kingdom Hearts games between gigs, reminding us just how much fun Disney can be. We also played through Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Battlenexus, which has the coolest unlockable feature ever; a console version of the TMNT arcade game from the 1990s!

Hades: "How dare you get a happy ending?! How DARE you?!"
