Sorry, I wandered in from ffvii_yaoi and saw this. It's been a year or so since I've actually watched the show, but I'd like some Yukikaze if you don't mind. Anything with Jack/Rei angst please =D

Yukikaze! :D

“Come back alive. And that’s an order.”

Jack says it to all his people as he sends them out. On the surface, it’s a simple restatement of SAF policy. The data they collect is too important, don’t engage in fights if you can run, don’t stop for anything or anyone. Just come back.

“Come back alive. And that’s an order.”

He wonders if Fate is laughing at him somehow, that the one person he truly wants to see safely back ends up in harms way again and again. He feels guilty sometimes that he’s relieved that even though Norman and Richard both died Rei came home.

Now it’s the last throw of the dice, his people are out there fighting alongside the others, carving a path for them home. And Rei… Rei and Yukikaze are about to become the tip of a very lethal spear.

Everyone knows what the mission is… he even said as much to Rei in the locker room.

But still…

“Rei! Promise me you’ll come back!”

As if the words, shouted over a microphone could somehow, someway be enough.

Come back alive.

You are made of win! It's so hard to find any fanbase for Yukikaze, so I just had to ask. Awesome drabble!
