Spoilers abound, GOING NUTS
So thanks to clairiere we now have a pretty detailed recap of the first episode. I'm impressed she can hold off reading it, I cannot. Anyone interested in reading, http://www.itv.com/presscentre/downtonabbey/s2ep01week38/default.html.
As for my own thoughts here they are under the cut:
The long summary is more summary so we can't determine how intense, funny or sad a scene is.
-Of course I scrolled through for the M/M parts first. Not liking we aren't sure about Matthew's feelings towards Mary, I was under the impression the eye snogging was mutual. I find it funny nothing was said about Lavinia individually which supports my thoughts she's still a Mary Sue character. Mary does see Matthew off at the platform in this episode and even if Matthew's feelings are not clear, I think it means a lot such a scene exists between them. Still worried about Sir Richard. And I just KNEW Carson's fondness for Mary would lead him to be cold towards Matthew.
-Bates being blackmailed over Mary's scandal. Did not see that coming. Again, he's being super honorable in keeping secrets that are not his own, even to let Robert be angry at him. I wonder if Anna has a clue as to why is he leaving given she knows exactly Mary's secret? Maybe there will be a kiss between then (finally) if they are engaged and happy before Vera looms her ugly head?
-William is a goner. I feel that for sure given the episode contents. Daisy kissing him but doesn't appear to quite love him. Poor William.
-I find it funny Branson doesn't care the slightest about the white feather.
-Not much on the other two sisters other than what we know. Edith drives and Sybil will be a nurse.
-Ending scene Thomas and Matthew at the front. I wonder if it will look like Matthew is injured?
