2.01 It's finally here

So I'm trying to do a blog, unlike eolivet and others, I'm not very eloquent and certainly not patient.  Plus, I really should be working.  What I will say, is to my chagrin I signed up for a year  long Bible study that started last Sunday night, and I realize I will be forced to watch the episode, and shortly thereafter must run off to talk about the ( Read more... )

On Lavinia... eolivet September 19 2011, 16:20:20 UTC
Seriously, am I the only one who DID NOT CARE that Lavinia wasn't that big a deal? Isn't that what we want? Matthew has proposed to her because she's a nice girl and he thinks he loves her and wants to be married after the war -- THAT'S IT. I don't care what their relationship is like -- she's there as the anti-Mary. She doesn't want to be a Countess, she's intimidated by the house, she and Matthew barely said two words to each other, but like...why is that a bad thing?! M/M's obstacles to one another have always been internal -- even when they have dozens of people rooting them on. To me, it's clear that Mary still has internal obstacles (and has gone to get herself an external one), while Matthew now actually has an external obstacle (and it's a big one ( ... )

I guess my issue is, while I love Mary and all, Matthew is my favorite. So when his story is pushed to the side because it's always all about Mary (and you don't have to explain why that is, I get it) it sort of irritates me slightly. Actually it wouldn't irritate me at all if Mary wasn't getting her own new love interest and I'm sure there will be a lot more to watch of them together. Maybe the point will be to showcase how Mary realizes by dating someone completely different in looks, attitude and background she will always love Matthew and only him, but I doubt that. I don't know. Maybe I'm still bitter they skipped on Matthew's proposal last season and we've seen Sir Dick's even on the damn preview ( ... )

Aww...that's funny, because Matthew is my favorite, too! I guess we have different ways of showing it, hee. :D I think because the thing is with Matthew, I will never ever doubt that he loves Mary. Like...ever. I can absolutely believe he thinks he's going to die (or is afraid he is) during war and wants to marry a nice girl. Like, he wants to be married, in the abstract, and since it can't be to Mary, it'll be to someone he probably would've married had he not become the heir to DA. But after last night? At the concert, at the train station, taking the dog with him and even his throwaway comment to Thomas, "You ever hear from anyone at the house?" (with the response of "Lady Edith" and "Lady Sybil," while pointedly leaving off one sister? Uh-huh...)

Maybe the point will be to showcase how Mary realizes by dating someone completely different in looks, attitude and background she will always love Matthew and only him, but I doubt that. Why would that not be exactly what they're doing? I honestly don't think they're trying to sell M/C ( ... )

It's funny what you're saying because when it comes to storylines, I typically like the guy better, but I enjoy watching the woman fall in love with him. And even though Mary clearly loves Matthew, it's still fun to watch that so I have no problems with that. But I'm still guarded because I don't want to see Mary begin liking Richard. I'm sure it will be clear she will always love Matthew first but it will bug to see that because I'm ALL ABOUT MATTHEW. (Hee). Sorry. It's from years and years of soap triangles thrown in my face and watching the WOMAN fall for someone else in the most heavy handed ridiculous way. of course that won't happen hear, but I'm still a little guarded just in case. Just like Matthew. (Awwww).

Here's the thing with S/B: I don't get what Branson can give her I get that too. It's why I'm not out and out shipping them. Also, I don't see a future for them, it was one thing where Mary would be just a lawyer's wife and all, but that's nothing compared to being a servant's wife. Also, I'm not a big fan of ( ... )
