We haven't seen Anna with her hair down yet so maybe it's her and Bates.
I hate to admit it but I hated that Matthew wasn't crying Mary's name when he was unconscious and that he truly seems to love Lavinia - it messes with my poor little heart.
Did anyone see the next time promo and what Mary says to Matthew - that got me a little excited that she might actually say she loves him and it's only Carlevil that gets in the way.
I definitely think Lavinia will be back though.
And I definitely want Mary to be the one who gives Matthew's junk a seeing to. I think it will be Anna and Bates though - the sex scene I mean, not seeing to Matthew's junk - that would take 'service' and upstairs/downstairs fraternisation to new heights.

I actually thought it was great when Matthew dreamed about Mary. I mean, it wasn't like he was picking her up and putting her down on the beach for a From Here to Eternity type kiss but that told me all I needed to know.
I don't know if we will get that lucky for Mary to just say she loves Matthew. They are British. :D But I have a feeling Matthew might show some jealousy to her speaking about this engagement or arrangement with Richard. Maybe he might get her to admit she doesn't love him.
My thoughts on Mary is she still doesn't realize that Carlisle is not a man to be trifled with. She doesn't realize he has her just where he wants her.
And Matthew might be more willing to heal faster if he realizes Mary is in danger of some sort. Though I like the idea of Mary taking care of herself, she's been doing quite a lot of that lately and I'm ready to see Matthew start helping her.

I agree. Time for Matthew to help Mary some. I think Carson is leaving Downton to be Mary and Richard's butler at the new place...probably before a wedding and he'll see something to help get Mary away from Richard. I hope. ;-) I'd also like to see Lavinia do something to help Mary, but she's been a wasted character so far. (At least turn her into a Melanie for a short time instead of a smudge on the wall.) Perhaps Carson discovers Lavinia and Richard really are lovers...speculating.
I'd like for Matthew to recover, but it seems even more soap opera'ish for a miraculous recovery. If he landed on the hub of the wheel with William's weight on top of him, that's a serious injury. Maybe he'll jump up out of his wheelchair to defend Mary or to SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER beat up Patrick (whether it's a real Patrick or impostor). Because that wouldn't be soap opera'ish at all. LOL.

I really do hope they "fix" Matthew's medical problem. I know some will cry fowl over it but it's common on TV and if he stays in that wheelchair for the rest of the series they've painted themselves into a corner. Matthew will be regulated to that chair so no more transition scenes.
I very much doubt we'll see the funeral for William, given how JF loves his time jumps. Plus...why on earth would they have it at DA? The servants might attend, but I think William's father would have it. And what would be the point? We know he died. :( That was the story, not his funeral
( ... )
I just had a new thought. Just because we've seen a wedding scene doesn't exactly rule out Mary/Carlisle getting married. They could do it offscreen. (Ugh). And god help me if she has sex with Carlisle. I may have to hurt someone.
Hee, they said one sex scene but we could turn Downton Abbey into a whole different show if A/B and M/M got in on in the same room. (Just kidding). But he could count it as one sex scene if they toggle back and forth between A/B and M/M. After all M/M's kiss coincided to an almost kiss with A/B.
Ah, see MY thought was "a wedding, a funeral and a sex scene." We've had A wedding. This implies there will be no more weddings. (I realize this also implies there will only be one sex scene).
I don't want to see a M/C sex scene either (even offscreen) but I will throw MANY LARGE OBJECTS at the screen if they make Mary pregnant with some questionable paternity crap. THAT WILL MAKE ME THROW THINGS. JUST...NO.
But we know there is more than one sex scene unless Ethel's moment WAS the sex scene. And even if they don't show a funeral scene I'm sure there will be one for William. Although they may not show the funeral then by your logic but they "had" one. It was just offscreen. Ugh now I'm confused.
UGH, a Who's the Father storyline would be most troubling. And will take what is the worst part of soap operas IMO. In some ways we are already having a paternity storyline or at least a Crawley one with Patrick.
