So I saw the movie this weekend and it was FANTASTIC!  And now I started reading the book.  And I'm into the first part and can you believe it?  I swear Katniss and Peeta were made for me?  Tough girl and softer guy?  She's the real warrior/hunter and he's like THE COOK?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  I need to marry a cook ( Read more... )

YAY! Another Hunger Games fan - *BIG HUGS* It's a trilogy that will take over your life, but in a very, very good way!

I'm really pleased you loved the film and that it's got you reading the books! The books are even more amazing than the films - and just so, so addictive!

I agree about the downplaying of her resistance to falling for Peeta in the film. I think it is because it's harder to get across and they simply don't have as much time. I also think it may be to set things up easier for future films...

As for the love triangle. I don't want to spoil anything, but I HATE love triangles with a passion and actually thought the one they do have in the Hunger Games worked very, very well and was very understandable - needed in a way to make the story make sense. Like you, things like Tumblr made me wary, but I'm so glad I gave the books a chance - I absolutely love them to pieces!

And yeah, it is quite scary how the reality TV element doesn't seem so far removed from what we already have today...

I loathe triangles but occasionally one will serve a good purpose. I think what I just don't want in a triangle is where the writers try to play both sides. I'm not into having my OTP being anything other than a OTP. So here I would be fine if Gale is a little bit of a triangle. It makes sense and I like her to understand what love really is.

Can't wait to read more later!

I think my problem with love triangles is nearly always they are there for the sake of added "drama" and to get fans raging war. Usually they have little to actually add to the overall story and are just irritating and annoying. They also usually make the main female (or male, though it is usually a female) appear weak and indecisive as if she just loves them both too much! Basically, I just find them usually very badly done, unrealistic and pointless to an annoying degree!

But that is definitely not the case with The Hunger Games. I don't want to give away too much, but as someone who loathes loves triangles for all the reasons above, I was definitely ok with this one.

I agree on the triangles. They rarely improve the storyline and now thanks to the Internet created a fan war.

I'm half way through the 2nd book. Since your aversion to triangles matches my own, I trust this is going to work out.

And sort of off topic but it amazes me how relevant this is compared to today. Now they are on their way to what we would call the all star hunger games.

And I have another question I totally thought gale could get with madge from the first book. I that possible?
