So I noticed I had a bit of a gap in one of my molars, like a cavity, only on the side towards the gumline, this cause me great concern and I went to the dentist today. After taking a couple of x-rays he quickly deduced that it (my upper right wisdom tooth) needed to be pulled. He also decided that not only does my wisdom tooth need to be pulled ( Read more... )

Aww, that sucks! But, join the club though! I was about to have all four of mine pulled, had an appt and everything, but then I got fired and lost that insurance. When I get a job again, that is one of the very first things I have to do.

So tell me, I trust you. Did it hurt? I have heard horror stories. Any good drugs? I know you can't use a straw for a while, but anything else? Does it affect what you can eat?

I had some decay in the tooth which was a concern because there was a risk the tooth could crack in pulling it out. The shot to the gum wasn't bad, the shot to the top of the mouth hurts a bit, after that your numbed up, i think i took another two shots of something which didn't feel as bad, the first (of the second two) i didn't even feel, the second part i did but not as bad as the first time. As for the pulling, it didn't hurt at all, you feel the pressure of the tools against the tooth but no pain. The dentist was prying from an angle that was stretching my cheek out a lot and that hurt a little bit. As for afterward, the dentist told me i could bleed, so he gave me gauze and said apply pressure (pressure stops bleeding). It didn't hurt much and he said it was just the one top one and it shouldn't hurt too bad so he wasn't gonna prescribe me anything for pain. He said just take some aleve and that was it. (sucks i know) he ached a little bit, and there were short throbbing pains, but nothing unbearable (honestly, the pain pills ( ... )
