Larger than life

Busy few days.  On Friday morning, I went for coffee at the atmospheric Scooter Caffe, with its old Vespa in the window.  Dark and secluded downstairs, the air exudes "quirky"; maybe a little bit too ostentatiously, but I like it...  Corpses of old coffee-machines (old style Elektras, etc) were mounted above the bar for posterity.  Work after ( Read more... )

I've been watching that "new student" thing for years, first at UCT and now at UCL. It's quite interesting.

Also, what godforsaken place were you visiting in Acton? I used to live there, and the best part is the tube station.

Bumpy, no one could hate you. Seriously, it's like you have a small generator inside you emitting anti-hate-waves. :D

Acton? We weren't, is the answer. The Jubilee line was down, making us miss our connection to the Piccadilly Line towards Osterley. The District Line took us as far as Acton town - silly me, still operating on logical assumptions. I thought that the closest we could get to our destination, but actually it would have made a lot more sense to try to make it to the N9 bus - even if it meant going back into town. It might just have been possible if I'd thought of it, but, well... sleep deprivation!!

I agre, though. Well, the tube station is the second best part. The -very- best part of Acton is the interior of the cab driving away from it.

I wouldnt say Acton is any worse than any other part of London...
