trying to learn about christianity is so frustrating. sometimes i feel like you have to believe first before you can understand some of this stuff because otherwise you only see it from a biased, non-believing point of view. i can see how some of it makes sense when you believe in it, but you can't really back up things by the bible when talking to ( Read more... )

that whole reason is my problem with religion.
how can I believe something when it doesn't make sense?

I was talking to a friend the other day who said something interesting...

"Usually people say that they have to see it to believe it, but really you have to believe it to see it."

I think it is about putting your faith in something you cannot see, because that is the only way you will see it. The only hard part is putting your faith in it. Why believe in something you cannot see in the first place? How do you know if you let yourself believe that what is said will really happen? you could just go in circles forever...

Yeah... Faith is annoying to me. It's touted as some supreme virtue, to blindly believe and have hope in something. Why is that virtuous? It's perhaps not a crime, but it should by no means be elevated to such a high position in our society ( ... )
