Omg, loved this chapter. It was a nice change of pace after some of the drama. I adore any time when Cook is a good lesbro and gives out strangely sound advice, so this was right up my alley. (and lolllll unicycles.) I like that Naomi made a plan and decided to give 'not being a twat' a go. Her apology to Sophia was really cute, as is Sophia's alternating crush on every girl in the group (sans Katie of course). Lovely, can't wait for the next bit <3

Cook does give good advice, doesn’t he? I can’t even remember if this is a canon fact or something fandom has assimilated for him, but I do love him for it.
Oh, Sophia. I couldn’t be doing with a suicide storyline, tbh. Quite a challenge to deal with in a lighthearted fashion. Sophia gets to be a normal lesbian in this, so yes, rapidly alternating crushes are a go go!

Awww... this is lovely. I love Naomi's list, and her decision to not be a prat, and her snarky little comments to herself...

Cook was perfect. And Naomi kissing him worked, too. And I like that he's not just having a laugh with Katie, part of him likes her back.

Sophia's crush on Effy- ha! And Effy is good at people crushing on her, she'll know how to handle it. It was nice to see Naomi get a bit of a talking to, so thanks for that.

Emily is so perfect and *cute*. I love the taking all the jellybellys bit-- it's so Emily, pushing a little bit but never too much. Adorable.

I feel like Naomi gets a better handle on the situation from here on in. Like, it is still a fairly massive problem, but at least she knows what the problem is, now.

Heh, Sophia’s attachment to Effy felt like an obvious outcome. Like, Effy expects everyone to love her, and Sophia will clearly be all, ‘righto! Excuse me while I try to become everything you are.’

Thank you for commenting! (And can I just say I love your icon. Beautiful.)

awwwwww yes yes yes how much I adore this fic! Their conversation in the library is adorable.. well Emily is adorable and Naomi is more at ease and fun to be around! I mean they said nothing concrete, they didn't even talk about the kiss (which btw didn't have time to comment but OMG!faint.. that chapter is fabulous!) but it was so good to see them laughing for a bit. I think it has to do with Naomi being less of a tit and being more herself, at least now she acknowledges she has some feelings for Emily so she's less confused about how to act around her I guess :)

And the Sophia/Effy thing? LOL. As Effy in s3 said "Well everybody loves me"! Yep it's definately canon.
And I liked how Naomi didn't take the easy way out during her apology to Sophia.. she easily could have but she didn't, I'm proud of her!

oh LOL at the bonus picture!

Yay, I’m glad you liked the library scene. I think that is legitimately the first time in the fic they managed to be light-hearted around each other without being drunk or high! Progress.

I like the fact that Effy will be entirely unphased about the whole thing too. A far better target for devotion than Naomi, who’s primary reaction was one of WHAT?WAIT.WHO?WHY?OHGODIMSCARED.

Naomi is learning how to grow a backbone. She hasn’t needed one much, what with Katie cheering on her every move for most of her teenage life.

First off, one of the small pleasures of reading this is seeing how friendship dramatically alters the dynamic of gen 2. Of course, since Cook has his hands full with Katie and ( I think?) Effy he's not going to be interested in Naomi. And since he's simultaneously nice enough, but also selfish enough, he knows Katie is morose and that has something to do with Naomi and hey, he's Cook, so obvs he can make everything right again. The correlation here between this and 3.06 is strong. Naomi coming to eventually realise they could be friends and whatever sexual tension completely dissipates. Ok, well, there isn't too much sexual tension here; although I DO think that season three Cook would have slept with Naomi if she pushed it. Because women's lady bits if his kryptonite or whatever, but just like in canon, I'm glad you didn't go there. Lesbros for life, ect ect ( ... )

No, you’re correct, there isn’t any sexual tension, really. It was more of a case of Naomi having a head-explosion and going for the knee jerk reaction. Cook’s response kind of demonstrates how out of the blue it was. And besides, he is interested in Katie. I always thought those two would work well together. And Naomi and Cook’s lesbro destiny is written in the stars, clearly ( ... )

Hurrah, I like a good plausible relationship between NE! The canon couple always felt a touch one-sided (SORRY), which I guess is what ‘loved you since I was twelve’ was trying to address, but yeah. Didn’t work for me, really. Oh, but I did love the oilz scene, I glad the library worked on a similar level.

Well, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but the library isn't QUITE as epic as the oilz scene (the show had Kat and Lily after-all) but you conveyed their dynamic really well. It's the moments when they both relax and stop perpetrating the charades when you see how well they work together. I think it's genius that Emily in this story is like her season four self, because it does demonstrate that when they're both equally emotionally invested in a relationship they work REALLY WELL. IE- On Knots and Unravelling + E/N = OTP

Though, molestation in the library? Come on T. Naomi has more class than that. ;)

Oh, wow, so Naomi is classier than me. How embarrassing.

I think I'm marginally less of pillock though.

Katie... ( ... )

but the library isn't QUITE as epic as the oilz scene HOW DARE YOU? DO YOU NOT KNOW WHO I AM etc etc. No, lol, I wasn't suggesting they were on a par. My words are nothing against the powers of moving pictures and loveless biting her lip whilst looking at prescott's (rpf warning!)

If it makes you feel any better, Naomi loses that classiness rapidly. And blunders about alot too. Chapter nine is a particular low, on the classiness and non-blunder front.

OMG WHAT IF I HAD LIED AND THIS WAS ALL BUILDING TO KATIE AND NAOMI REALISING THEIR FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER, WHICH NAOMI HAD BEEN ~PROJECTING ON EMILY? WOULD YOU EVER SPEAK TO ME AGAIN?

I'm on it. Going to do typo fun stuff now.

Love the Cook/Naomi friendship, it's always one of my favourite things to read ♥

I loved that Sophia seems to have toughened up a bit, and it's hilarous that she's now crushing on Effy. Girl moves fast!

NE are so cute, I can't even ♥

LOL the bonus picture.

Oh, your icon. ♥

I love writing Cook and Naomi! They just seem to bounce off each other perfectly.

Loll, Sophia is quite impressionable, I’ve decided. And Effy makes a big impression, whatever she does, so...

Bonus picture is possibly my favourite thing about this entire story, ngl.
