Well, hello gentle readers. Jess here for the day 1 recap and picture post. As you can probably guess, thirteen hours of driving does not for interesting story make, but we have a few tidbits for you.
We woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to greet the day with sunshine and giggles!
With the car ready, and passengers securely locked into place,
Clara locked the door and we were off!
It wasn't until Oyama that we discovered Carmen was only wearing one sock.

Carmen was totally stoked for the border crossing!
As evident by this image:
We ate lunch at a little greasy spoon in washington.
Carmen decided to show off some of her skills to the other patrons
And there were hummingbirds!
We got back on the road. I was enthralled by windmills, which are apparently a novelty to me (so I have learned in my learnings.)
And then we crossed over the river into Oregon without much traffic, or road work.
Boring grassy bits were left. But some highlights! The self proclaimed home of the Easter Bunny:
The endless straight stretch:
And a VERY large man in a VERY small lowrider truck. (It was a GENUINE Creation!)
And shortly after that, we got into the Holiday Inn Express which was Very Nice Indeed. A strange man told us we were very tired and advised us to eat and sleep. So we went to the pool, ordered Applebees, and watched cartoons. And fought with a vending machine. God I hate dollar bills. >:T
More picture post from me tomorrow, but until then, you'll just have to survive with the witty wit of Carmen and Clara.
LOVE AND HUGS,
Jess
