This is lovely. I really enjoyed the tone you set here. The boys banters crack me up despite Dean bleeding so copiously. I also like your take of Sam being pissy to mask his concern and worry about Dean and the helplessness at not being able to do anything.

Then of course, there is Dean. He's such an interesting study od contradictions. I totally adore this part:

Dean stopped swinging his legs like a toddler on the bed to kick his little brother.

"Quit it."

This is such a perfect glimpse/example of the man!child that Dean is.

Wow, this was something! I could hear the brother's voices, your dialogue was so spot on. Everything (everything!) about them was true to character, I thought. Also, super engaging case. Awesome stuff. Great story!!

It's INSANE how much blood there can be, isn't it? My mom gets them all the time - always has. She's been to the hospital a handful of times to have the thing cauterized

I will confess - Dean asking to set fire to the house was via suggestion from wave_obscura, because in my head I knew why the Barkers wouldn't have been able to just up and move, but I completely forgot to put it down on paper. So, it got brought up - why wouldn't they just burn the house down? That question actually gave presence for further insertion of the theme, so it worked out great.

Changing Sam's ringtone actually came from one of the first SPN fic I ever wrote, at a comment-fic meme. The song playing for Sam that time... "I'm just a redneck woman, not a high class gal..."

And yay for someone getting the 'True Blood' ref!
