One other recommendation: It's more prose than story, and you're never ever in your entire life going to find a printed version, but you need to check out "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" by, obviously, John Tolkien

I dunno, I'm not a big fan of his work, tbh. One line that I did really like was "My hands were torn and my knees worn, and years were heavy upon my back."
