Lord of the rings is actually 6 books, you should get 6 times the credit.

What is the significance of choosing 1923?

Well as for me I've read Lord of the Flies, Catcher in the Rye, The Lord of the Rings (which is ACTUALLY only one book published in 3 parts) and I'm in the process of getting a copy of The Lion Witch and The Wardrobe. So I guess that's 4 for me.
