smiorgan downloaded vanilla Ubunutu, and I booted the Mac from that and used the built-in tool to make a bootable USB stick. It didn't work, but reformatting the disk and trying again fixed it, so I booted the eeeee with vanilla Ubuntu. It didn't recognise the trackpad. The built in bootable-USB thingie isn't fussy about which .iso it uses, so I tried again with the eeebuntu I downloaded the other day, and this time, reformatted, it worked. And as soon as it started up, it told me there were wireless networks available and asked if I wanted to join one. Result! (Much credit due to
