I feel horrible for Uhura. I'm well aware the boys ripped her heart out. I wanted to tie that up better, but to do so would have dragged the story on even further when the plot had really run out. I hope to write a sequel someday, or at least a few shorts, but it depends on the muse. Right now nothing is developed enough. But I hope you'll keep an eye out just in case.
that was wonderful! i loved it so much! i was up until 1am reading it last night and will prob be a bit late to work now because i HAD to finish it before i left! loved the idea of spock's wings and the way jim and spock fit together at the end was beautiful. thanks for sharing!!
I really loved Jim and Spock in this, but OMG Bones is absolutely wonderful here. ♥ I LOVE LOVE LOVE Selek's involvement and T'Pau is AWESOME. I love how supportive Sarek and Pike are, and I love crazy genius Scotty too! ♥
I felt sorry for Uhura here, but I'm sure she'll find happiness with someone more suited for her than Spock...
Thank you! I tried to give most everyone a moment, though I know some of the command crew got lost. The supporting characters were very important. Someday I will find a way to apologize to Uhura for ripping her heart out.
This story was beyond beautiful; well-written and very well thought-out. I appreciated so much in it, especially parts like the bet being discovered by Spock and his subsequent reaction. The shadowing of "Amok Time" was great as well, it made my day to have that show up. This was an excellent story and I thank you for sharing it with us! All chapters mem'd for future reading!
Thank you. I never did follow up on the bet. I should have. But slipping in Amok Time references was a big part of the first draft. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Seriously amazing. I love how you really took the time to build up to the eventual fallout. Everyone exhausted all other options. Even if Kirk and Spock getting together wasn’t on anyone’s agenda at first, it became so necessary and logical that it became plausible. I love plausibility. That’s what makes good fics in my opinion. You didn’t demonize Uhura either, which was also a huge plus. And you made Kirk competent. I don’t know how many reboot fics I’ve read where the things Kirk says on the bridge, the way he speaks, and his actions are so childish and immature that I want to cry at how it completely ruins an otherwise decent fic. So kudos on his characterization
( ... )
Thank you. I originally wrote this as a short piece, but then realized it was over 30,000 words, not done, and I needed to rewrite the beginning because it built like a short story instead of the novel it became.
They're adults. I've also set this two years into the mission, so they'd better have grown up a bit, Jim included. I agree that his immature behavior is emphasized in fic far too often.
I only recently read that canon states that Vulcans are cooler than humans. I ran with hot because it was what I'd read before. Maybe next story I'll do it the other way around. Who knows.
I adore Labyrinth as well. One of my absolute favs, and Jareth is just dreamy. It scary as hell when he wants to be.
