Saturday night Jess, Amanda and I went into Seoul to visit NamDaeMun and Myeong Dong again. Shop for a few things and enjoy the relatively warmer night (it was around 32 degrees, but so much warmer than it had been for the previous week!)

yes, I don't mean to make light of it. Of course, I haven't even seen it, and had I been here I would have been devestated, I am sure. It seems funny to me that it has been behind this wall for a year...and no one can tell me when it will be rebuilt. But the wall is a good landmark for a newcomer to seoul. You cannot miss it.

I am sad for any nation that loses something so special to its culture.

And I list in Farenheit because most readers would have to convert celcius.

The Uniforms? are awesome. That is really neat that you got there then. Great timing by accident!

I know! I was praising the travel gods that I arrived so fortuitously and completely on accident! It was a tourist dream. If I had known I would have been stressing to get there on time, as it was, I just waltzed right up grinning at all the koreans and helping them shuffle their kids to the front of the que. It was fun from every perspective. I will post some video tomorrow.

Mmm, yummy street food.

You know, to my ignorant eye, there are many things you've shown us about Korea that remind me of China, and many that remind me of Japan. I had thought of Korea as being more culturally different from those parts of Asia. How does it compare to Thailand, on the other side?

A great question trisket876 January 20 2009, 23:48:27 UTC
I intend to post more about this when I get home. (And have time to think and compare.) Also, normalcyispasse can answer alot of these questions, as he spent (2?) years here.
