During copulation, the male mounts the female from behind. Both sexes hold their tails to the side and turn back the feathers around the cloaca (the common opening of the bird's alimentary canal and excretory and reproductive systems), so that the swollen lips of the male's and female's cloacae can come into contact. In some birds, such as geese, ducks, and game birds, there is a grooved, erectile penis inside the male's cloaca. The penis guides the sperm, which have been stored in a nearby sac, into the female. In passerines, there is no penis, and copulation amounts to a brief "cloacal kiss" during which the sperm are transferred.
i always thought that swans were the only birds with penises...but thank you for correcting me mr. walking encyclopedia (10 bucks you copy and pasted from an encyclopidia)
i had a dream. about crows. and them talking. im convinced. and i shall listen to them. but unfortunatley i didnt dream of crow sex. if i had i might have found out how crows in particular have sex but then again if i did, it probly wasn't the correct way for them to have sex. it probly might be more amusing than clare's theory. my theory is crows have sex through the mouth. or beak. no oral but the guy crow would vomit some magic liquid into the lady birds beak then somehow it would travel to her eggs. and fertilise them. maybe we are looking into this abit far but all the same it is really amusing.
