1. I friended you after the post I did on comic books. Anybody who can keep up a sustained conversation on comic books in the comments HAS to be my friend. :D

2. David Cook. It's where I first met you online!

3. I like how open you are to ideas and experiences, even if you describe yourself as being "vanilla".

4. Me and you driving with the top down, and you were talking about your two kids.

5. Is there a book that you started reading because it was highly recommended by friends, but you ended up not liking? What was the book and why didn't you like it?

I AM A DOLT WHO WILL ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT BOOKS.

6. I like the one with your face on it.

I tend to be the one foisting my book reccs on others, actually (can't you tell? :)). One Christmas I fell so deeply in love with Susannah Clarke's "Jonathan Strange + Mr Norell" that I bought copies for all the partners in my firm, who viewed it with deep suspicion!

Okay, this is a terrible story which should not get out into the public domain, lest I get run outta fandom on a stick? When HP had yet to take the world by storm, a co-worker reccd it. I picked up the Philosopher's Stone (the legend of which I loved? And had been a motif in Matt Wagner's MAGE). And OMG, I couldn't get through it. It was derivative - the plot had been done so many times before, and so much better! - and pedestrian, and the writing was even worse than John Grisham's. I had no desire to find out how it ended. After the HP phenomenon made it huge, I did dip in and out of the series; the books became better, and JKR's world-building was actually pretty good. But the damage had been done. Okay, there you are :)

1. We met so long ago, don't you remember? We were so young then -- mere preschoolers -- but I think we both knew we would be friends as soon as we compared diaper brands.

2. RuPaul's Drag Race

3. You always look out for your friends and you never forget people who've helped you out. Also, your piles and piles of money.

4. I remember you being transferred to your bed after an operation. You were in so much pain and I couldn't stop looking at the jar of orange stuff under your bed.

5. Bakla ka ba?

6. I like this one you're using, actually.
