1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Drive a motorised boat. Go on shift at work. Get my hair cut asymmetrical. Write a dissertation. Watched and was completely absorbed by cricket: the 2005 Ashes series. Queued up from 6am to get into Wimbledon. Did aerials in a lindy hop performance.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Last year’s resolution was to not put myself in situations that encourage me to obsess and crush on boys. Or was it, NO BOYS IN 2005? Either way, I’d say I was sufficicently resolute. Usually I don’t make NY resolutions, but I might again this year since last year’s was very helpful.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not VERY close, no.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

10.Did you suffer illness or injury?
Minor muscle pull from playing frisbee and pivoting on the wrong foot with cleats. Too many bouts of flu.
11.What was the best thing you bought?
I’m going to change this. Top 3 fifteen quid spent in 2005:
i) A day on a boat off Hvar Island.
ii) Batman Begins ticket and coffee from Coffee Republic, spent with Libby and Charles.
iii) Ticket from Royal Ballet to watch Alina & co up close.
Moral of my story is I suppose, I only bought great memories in 2005. My Ipod Shuffle would be the best material item I received this year, but I didn’t buy it. (Thanks again, Club Med 10& friends!)

26.What was the best book you read?
Oh dear. The Nicomathean Ethics (only after I started to understand it though); John Gray’s Heresies was a nice read; Popper and Hayek for being such ::interesting:: people. I've Have What She's Having by Bobbie Houston was an inspiration. The chick lit writer who made me laugh the hardest was Sarah Mason. I also went through a phase when I thought Meg Cabot wrote the best 40min-read girl books. (I needed a lot of distractions during the dissertation period) I suspect I'm going to yearn to reread James Herriot now too.

My brother. Jade. Shuj.
38.Who was the best new person you met?

A purple sky to close the day
I wade the surf where dolphins play
The taste of salt, the dance of waves
And my soul wells up with hallelujahs.
