Despite the fact that I do think you should reward good performance and retain human capital with a package that includes an attractive pay structure, from a purely ngeow perspective, I do think the one person in the whole of Singapore who does not need such a large pay increase is the prime minister. Also, your logic is in line with why the US President (arguably most powerful man in world) is paid $200K a year.

Yup, I read the article that was all apparently "LHL earns 5 times more than the US President!". Me: Well, DUH. I say most men who want to be US Prez would quite willingly work for free. At most only 8 years what. In Singapore it appears to be a lifetime job so you got to pay them a little bit at least. :P

they should switch the percentages.

civil servants get the up to 33% pay increase will ministers get the 5-7% :P

it would cost too much la... that's why don't have like that one.

it almost always costs less to pay the "heavenly" tiers a large percentage increase so that they can work the poor suckers harder and pay them a little increment. *grin*
