And I'm Back.

Been two weeks since last entry.  Blame Spring Break and MadWorld.  Let's just dive right in, 'cause this week's is one of my favorites.

When I showed this to my mother, she laughed aloud and nearly fell off her chair, so it seems that I'm not the only one who had to deal with eight-year old boys giggling at naked statues.  That was one of the (many) aggravations of the job: making sure the kids weren't making boob jokes in public, thus reflecting poorly on the Y.

Beyond the boys, the girl in the second panel was based on a kid in my group (right down to the name.  The kid standing next to her is based on her cousin, who was also in my group).  As we were walking through the museum, she really did cover her eyes around the statues, and then asked me if we could go to another room.  It was so cute I wanted to say no.  And she and her cousin really are/were that tiny.  I swear they were 2 feet tall.  Man, they were a lot of fun to be with...I should change the subject.

The statues were fun to draw.  Since I was taking a European art class when I was drawing this, I had a lot of good reference material.  Just pick a dramatic pose, maybe leave out some limbs, and always add flowing, diaphanous robes.

Right, next week's strip is one of the first ideas I came up for the comic, going all the way back two years ago, during my first time at the Y.
