My parents have up to this point pretty much pretended that I hadnt told them anything. After my dad's outburst....things have been like I never said anything to them in the first place..... I thought it was odd but I was gonna give them

Wow. Your Mom is doing great so far. If she is willing to make a gesture like this so soon, I think you will have no worries with her in the future. Make sure to tell her how much you love her, and how thankful you are for her support :)

With her having your back, Dad is just going to have to learn to deal with it! :)

This is terrific, and I am glad to see your mom is doing this without any prompting having been sent her way by you. It is important that she takes on the issues with your dad of her own accord and without being 'stuck in the middle' by you - that way just leads to resentment.
