While this is an interesting idea, you have to remember that the structure of the divine offices was created in a context where there was an established infrastructure, an established community, and constant support for it from secular authorities. This left the monks to be entirely free to have few other cares other than the divine office

You make very good points, all of them. Yes, I have a history of having grand ideas and not following through (by the way, the Book of Days project is almost back on; I realized I was an idiot for not using Google Calendar to help with it and now have a tonalamatl spanning to the end of this Gregorian year, less only the Nahua festivals -- and I have Fray Diego Duran's Book of the Gods and Rites and the Ancient Calendar at my feet as I type, so those shall be on it soon and I will have no excuse for not honoring them
