What's the story behind your username?
I was a pretentious prick when I was younger. Nah, while I was at Uni, I was largely nocturnal, communicating with people in the US over the interwebs at silly o'clock in the morning so I wanted a handle that reflected that. The '404' was supposed to lend it an air of mystery, named after the HTTP 404 error 'Page not found'.

What's the story behind your favorite icon?

Yay, thanks for answering. You probably get asked this all the time, but what's so scary about statues?

You're right, I do.

I watched a fascinating program on the nature of disgust, years ago. Apparently, the brain divides things into bonary categories such as things which belong inside the body and things that belong outside. See something in the wrong category and it triggers a disgust reflex e.g. a metal spike through the body or a lung outside.

I believe the mind also does this with alive things and dead things. Statues, waxworks, manakins etc. I know to be inanimate but they appear to be animate. My brain can't reconcile that into a binary category and freaks out.

tl;dr They look alive but they're not.

Well, you've got a point there. I've never given statues a second thought, but now I'll probably find them creepy. Thanks :P

I'm a cool kid so I'm going to answer the questions. :)

1. What's the story behind your username?
Well, actually the story is pretty boring. I'm a fan of the Buffy- & Angelvers and I love the character Fred. After writing some fanfictions and some other stories where I named a girl Fred that actually became my nickname. 2303 is my birthday. So that's it.

2. What's the story behind your favorite icon?
I don't really have a favorite icon of mine. I like all of my icons. Well, I'm going to talk about my default icon then, 'kay? It shows one of my favorite characters on The Vampire Diaries. So it represents my liking the show and being a TV show addicted ( ... )

#9 I'm exactly the same way :-/

So you like bridges then? I've never seen an epic bridge. I mean, we have Nelson Mandela Bridge in Johannesburg, but it's just a glorified roadway.

So we totally click on that one. :)

Yes, I do. I haven't seen an epic bridge yet, but somehow I like them. Don't even know why I like them.
