Sometimes you come across something so true, it makes you cry.

I know plenty of people on my flist are aspiring writers and other artists, so I have to deeply recommend this TED talk to anyone who's ever battled with creativity. It's definitely inspired me to see the whole process differently... oh, just watch! :)

Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Christ, she's a touch pretentious, no?

Maybe I'm more of a science guy. =/

I think she's really sweet, actually.

Pretentious and sweet and necessarily mutually exclusive ;)

Not to me. Pretentious people talk down to you while someone I'd see as 'sweet' are non-judgemental towards their audience.

So, she's pretentious to you because she uses a spiritual metaphor to deal with creativity? Or because she mentions her own success (which was definitely huge)?

Yay! Hello new friend :)

I'm a fiction writer, although right now I'm working on nonfic for a media agent friend of mine who supplies feature articles to magazines. This is a really recent development and I just submitted my first article to her. So I'm still feeling like a hobo with dreams slowly realizing that I might actually be able to call myself a writer soon. :)

Are you studying or working in journalism now? :)

This is wonderful. I frequently struggle with my writing, because I take it upon myself to come up with the ideas and with the correct formula for execution. This is probably the best advice to be given ( ... )

I have that too! The best ideas come to me right before sleep. Maybe it's because you're so relaxed or maybe the universe just likes the irony.

Actually the idea for the article I gave to KJ came just that way. Sometimes I let the ideas slip away, confident that I'll remember them in the morning. But now I'm starting to get into the habit of typing it into my phone (which is always an arm's length away, and doesn't require much conscious thought) before falling asleep.

*shakes fist at universe* :P Maybe it is because you're relaxed, so you're more open to receiving inspiration and channeling energies? :)

I have never thought to type the ideas into my phone. Ack, you're a genius! :D Haha. I should do that from now on. I can just quickly keysmash the idea into my "notes" ap and then roll over and sleep. XD

Just don't send the idea as a message to anyone in your half-conscious state xD
