TREE STAND PRINCESS
(T. Beechey)
She's just a tree stand princess
In the woods is where she goes
Overlooking all the wilderness
And the world in which she knows
High above the scenery up in a makeshift loft
She blends in with the greenery as the breezes echo soft
While the sun slowly rises atop the canopies
She's safe in her disguises, no one ever sees
She's just a tree stand princess
In the woods is where she stays
Overlooking all the wilderness
Throughout her nights and days
Nestled in the murmur of the beaming afterglow
The stance she takes is firmer as farther down below
There's a rustle in the silence which overtakes the mood
And beckons her compliance for the interlude
She's just a tree stand princess
In the woods is where she lives
Overlooking all the wilderness
Never takes more than she gives
And as the twilight gathers, she remains affixed above
Surrounded by the lathers of the mists of distant love
As one by one the stars emerge in random disarray
Their presence is a muted dirge to the fallen day
She's just a tree stand princess
In the woods is where she'll be
Overlooking all the wilderness
And also you and me
