I have had the day from hell today, everything was fine up until about 3:00 this afternoon when I was taken out of the office and told that a colleague had made a formal complaint against me that I had ridiculed and humiliated him

Oh that's terrible! I'd be crying too. Why on earth would he do such a thing? He sounds like the horrible bully I have to work with.

As people said to me at the time, 'consider the source'. That doesn't really make it any easier when people do nasty things!

I am putting in a counter grievance I have calmed down now but it really knocked me for six

I think the tears were tears of shock rather than anything else

Definitely put in a counter grievance! I can understand how you would be feeling! Shocked and dumbfounded! You shall overcome!
